Hi, and welcome to Caribbean Shores B&B. I'm Cindy, and I, along with my husband Joe own and operate the resort. We are originally from Springfield, Illinois and have been in Belize since May 2011. Before coming here I worked as a food broker and Joe work in IT for a small insurance company.
For a long time I had wanted to do "something different". I didn't know exactly what, but I knew it wasn't what we were doing. After a lot of thought I realized having guests in our home, cooking for them, making them comfortable was what I really enjoyed. I wanted to be near water, not too far from the US (need lots of visits back to see kids and grandchildren) and a place I could feel at home in.
I found Hopkins! It is only a short "hop" from the USA Southern coasts, in the same time zone, is English speaking and is known for its hospitality and friendliness. I came here for a visit, found the B&B and here we are. My husband's story is a bit different, so I will let him tell it.
Hello. I'm Joe and I am here with my wife running the B&B and this is where our stories go in different directions. I was content in my job, had a large garden I enjoyed working in and our friends and family were close by.
Cindy had been talking about doing something different, but like a lot of men, I wasn't paying much attention (she always wanted to move wherever we went on vacation). So when she said she wanted to go to Belize to look at property with her brother I said "Have Fun!" I was in shock at first. I never really believed they would find a place and buy it. But they did. So I packed up and moved sight unseen. I have to admit I was not a happy camper at first and was in a little bit of shock.
The first time we drove down Hopkins road I seriously thought she had lost her mind, but she just smiled at me and said "wait til we get to the end". It was beautiful, the people are great and we are very happy to be here and we can't wait for you all to come visit us!
